i want to die
ahahh there is a White history Month(s) It is called WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam, The holocaust, which is a history in and of itself. Roman History, English History, American History. The History Channel dedicates entire shows to your guys’ fuck ups, and mostly insane Ideas… They don’t break them into particular months, because we would need entire years to dedicate to white peoples’ annoying tendency to go to war over trivial things.
But this is what bugs me! You don’t want racism? Stop making yourselves stand out. If you want to be treated the same, treat us the same. The whole reverse racism thing really irks me. (not pointing fingers directly at you, but you just made me think of that rant)
I think your justification is, maybe not wrong, but definitely not enlightened. There is a Black History Month because throughout the year all we learn about is history which is dominated by… ‘White History’. That is not reverse racism, it is the truth. In my own life, the only time I have learned about my own history, which is JUST AS IMPORTANT as any other point in history, is when I either set out to learn about it myself, or during black history month. It’s not about being treated the same. If we were treated the same I would be able to learn about the history of African American’s in the history books. But tell me this, how much African American history, I’m speaking specifically of this because I am African American, do you know? Most people only know about Harriet Tubman, MLK, Rosa Parks and MAYBE Malcolm X and Frederick Douglass if they are lucky. But there is so much more. No one speaks about the Tuskegee Airmen, W.E.B. Du Bois, Medgar Evars, Josephine Baker, Crispus Atticks, Norber Rillieux, Dred Scott, Sojourner Truth, and so many many more (Those are just some people who have lead the way for me to become and do what I am able to become and do today. That isn’t counting musicians, actors and so fourth.) So excuse us for wanting to celebrate our heritage that has been so conveniently limited to one month of the year. Although the person above you was a bit culturally insensitive to make his or her point, the point was made. Black History Month isn’t by any means reverse racism, it is a celebration of the history and life of those who have made it possible for people of color to be treated the same, and to excel at what they love to do.
